Man, I remember the good ole day's when my mom kept killing all those drifters nonstop. To be fair, they do have a flashback scene where Aya and her father eat a doughnut or something, so I guess that's all we need to really understand is that they do love each other. We never see why they have a good relationship, and it's all the more unbelievable when Aya can hear screaming and people being murdered every night. We get a dialog like above in a few flashback scenes where Aya and Evil Dad have such bonding moments as sitting together in a field or looking at each other in a hallway made out of stolen RPGmaker backgrounds. It's shit writing, and we don't feel any connection for the characters and instead are told their emotions.Įvil dad: Yes, I feel the same, daughter.Įvil dad: Indeed. Screams like "No! Please don't kill me!" and "I don't want to be a doll!" Regardless, Aya loves her autistic murderous father so much, and we see flashbacks of them kind of walking around, mumbling around how great it is to be a family, blah blah blah. Every night Aya can hear screams coming from her castle basement.

It's currently modern times, and Aya's dad in his free time kidnaps harvest moon style villagers outside the castle gates, and doll's the hell out of them. Aya's mother? Dead. You play Aya, an 11-year-old Japanese girl who lives in a YE OLD FINAL FANTASY CASTLE with her scientist(?) father that is filled with nothing but barrels and random crates filled with gems and RPG herbs. I mean, a ghost child with an evil doll? Don't make me laugh. Also, I think I can take the evilest dolls in a wrestling match. Do you think those little idiots have muscle mass? Think again. Most people can beat up children, and I assume ghost children are even far easier to beat up. First of all, none of that shit is scary. So, have dolls ever been scary? For some reason, Japan and horror always have this thing where children, ghosts, and dolls are supposedly frightening.

No, instead, he just spends 90% of his time online talking about how to budget his autism checks on better wigs for his permanently stained silicon girlfriend. I mean, sure, there is that creepy guy at the grocery store that fucks large plastic dolls from sex vendors and tells you about it while bagging your groceries, but he wouldn't harm you. It's more aesthetically pleasing? It's a classic trope really, but the thing that always is bothersome about a plot like this is that no one in any form of real life is scared of people obsessed with dolls. He pretty much kills people and stuffs them to keep them youthful forever because uh. Why does he do this? Because that way, they can be "BEAUTIFUL FOREVER MUAHAHAHA!" or something insanely retarded.
I guess you could say instead of Mad Father the game should be called "Ridiculous Taxidermist".

Apparently, he just kind of hollows out hobo's, maids, and various townsfolk and fills them full of straw or something. This game is about a child whose father is an evil mad scientist (Or a doctor? Or Doll collector?) that turns people into dolls. So, let me lay this one on you, partners. Never before could I imagine an RPGmaker game could give me a blue screen - but whatever.
Instead of a diamond, I found a terrible game that crashed my system countless times. Yes, I saw it was an RPGmaker game, and yes, it's horror so right away I knew it was going to be garbage, but I always come into these things looking at reviews and like hoping that, maybe, just maybe, this is a diamond in the rough. Nothing about this game is scary, and everything about this game is a complete waste of time. The steam forums were like, "Oh - This game is so scary!" and "Oh! This game is so good!" but what a joke. With sweaty hands and licking your lips, you open the box, and there is nothing in it besides anthrax. You keep hearing nonstop about how much you will enjoy it, how much time he spent getting it for you, the wonders of how this present will change your life. Imagine if you will that your friend is coming over for your birthday party and he keeps telling you about how excellent his present is.
